It is provided to use resident fonts according to the printer properties to print by dot matrix printers faster in 1.75.00.

Fast printing on dot matrix printer over Windows applications depends on the font type. When resident fonts are used, these printers work much faster.

When a dot matrix printer is selected as the default printer, printer fonts can be selected over the font list from Windows application as in the following image.

(In this list, fonts belonging to the printer are displayed with a printer symbol. TT, namely TrueType fonts are Windows fonts.)

Make sure that the relevant printer in use is selected in “Page Setup” window. If this printer is not selected as default, it can be selected inhere.

In 1.75.00 version, “Dominant Font on Report Printouts” and “Dominant Font on Form Printouts” options are added to “View > Options” menu to print the report and form printouts from dot matrix printers in the required fonts.

When Dominant Font on Printouts option is left unchecked, the selected fonts in report and form designs will be valid.

Font information that will be used must be entered in these fields (such as “HSD 12cpi” or “HSD 10cpi”). When font info is specified, fonts selected in Report and Form designs are not considered.

The required font information that will be used when dominant font is not specified can be determined in Report and Form designs through View > Options menu.

Possible problems and solutions:

  1. If dot matrix printer prints graphic character even after performing the steps above,
  • “HSD 12cpi” text info may not be written properly in dominant font field located in View > Options. (It can be written by “copy & paste” transaction from Word program.)
  • It must be checked whether quick printing is performed or not when “HSD 12cpi” is defined in font field in Word program.
  • After selecting the relevant fields within the report or form, resident fonts used for dot matrix printers can be selected (such as “HSD 12cpi”).
  1. If Turkish characters can not be printed even when quick printing is performed;
  • Turkish fonts supported by dot matrix printer must be installed.
  • Setup settings of the printer may cause this problem.

  1. How to understand whether printer fonts are dot matrix or graphic font:
  • Dot matrix printer font names bear a printer symbol. TT, in other words TrueType fonts are Windows fonts.
Fonts starting by “HSD XXcpi” are the fastest fonts used for dot matrix printer. When the font starting by 10 is selected, it prints out in large fonts. (HSD 10cpi). When the font starting by 20 is selected, it prints out in the smallest font size. (HSD 20cpi).
